Document Required to open Demat Account

Demat account is required to buy and sell shares in the Indian stock market. Demat account is the electronic listing of one’s shares. It saves a person from the bothering of keeping the shares in paper forms. Opening the Demat account is very easy and simple. One who is willing to open such an account just need to follow the steps provided by the respective organization. The customer should collect the application form then submit the documents required to open Demat account. He /she should execute the agreement specified by the NSDL which is supplied with the form. Lastly he/she should obtain the exact fee. The DP shows the balance of shares in the account and the transactions.

Documents required to open Demat account varies a little bit for the NRIs from those of the residing Indians. Documents for the NRIs:

• Properly filled account opening form.
• Passport size photographs of the respective person.
• Photocopies of his/her passport and visa for identity proof.
• Photocopy of pan card which is mandatory.
• NRI rate card for those who are providing their foreign address for communication.
• Details of bank account which is to be linked with the Demat account.
• No permission from RBI is required. Permission from respective organization may be required for debit and credit purpose.

Documents required to open Demat account for residing Indians:

• Duly filled application form.
• Photocopies of passport, pan card (mandatory), driving license for identity proof.
• Photocopies of passport, telephone bill, driving license, voter ID card for residence proof.
• Photographs of the respective person of passport size.
• Details of the bank account which is to be linked with the Demat account.
