How To Apply For Duplicate Driving License?

Why is driving license required?

A driving license is issued to a person giving him the authority to drive any vehicle under that particular category in the public place otherwise he will not be driving a motor vehicle in public.

Types of Driving license:

There are two types of driving license

Learner license – it is issued to individual to learn how to drive which is a temporary license which is valid up to 6 months only.

Permanent license – is issued to person who is eligible to drive from the date of learner license issuance.

The procedure to acquire a duplicate driving license:

After attaining a driver license it is advisable to keep a photo copy of the driving license in case if it gets stolen, damaged or loss. To get a photo copy of the license then one has to produce the required information on the license to locate the particulars of the license from the records. It is advisable to get fresh license instead of getting a duplicate one.

To get a duplicate license the documents that are required are:

1. Application in Form LLD
2. Challan clearance report from RTA office (in case of renewal of Commercial license)
3. An FIR copy of the lost license

To verify the particulars from the records the issuing authority is to be approached.

The validity of the duplicate licenses is the same as the previous one.

The permission from Head Quarter of Transport Department is required for lost license and expiry of license.
