NGO is an abbreviation for Non - Governmental organization. Beginning a non governmental organization is typically a lengthy and time consuming process and you need to register a NGO before actually starting it. But before registering itself there are certain requirements to be fulfilled. A board of directors or an advisory board has to be formed by the organization along with the vision, mission and the objectives to be achieved.
Before going to register a NGO, it is necessary to ensure that the name and logo proposed for the non governmental organization is unique and is not used by any other organizations. This can be made sure by means of checking with the registry of the local government or any other agency or board similar to that. Certain forms have to be filled in and submitted to register a NGO.
To register a NGO, there are many specialized departments or officers available with in the local government of most of the states. This non governmental organization can also called other wise as non profit organization, voluntary organization, people's organization etc. while registering a NGO, there are certain documents to be produced and this may differ from one state to another state.
The mission statement, programmes that are going to be organized, information about the projects, details on the staff members, sources of funds, and further in formations on the NGO board has to be produced to register a NGO. The documents to be produced along with form includes the memorandum of association or bye laws along with the rules and regulations, a report made on the annual activities, reports on finance and audits, pattern and the source of income and the expenditures and certain other requirements include minutes of either the executive board or of a general assembly and other references which act as supportive statement to start with a NGO.
