A gas ration card is provided to the Indian nationals for proper distribution of the LPG. Anybody can get the new gas ration card and a person willing to get it needs to visit the nearest authorized LPG distributor. The distributor then provides a form which needs to be filled by the person so submit it with all the supporting documents as required.
Generally a person needs to show the proof of residence for getting a new gas ration card. This gas ration card can be used as a valid proof of identity by the holder.
It is always suggested that if a person has a different present address but the gas ration card has been issued on a different address, he/she must take initiatives to change the card address. Any one of the following can be used a valid residential proof for the aforementioned purpose:
- Driving license
- Electricity bill
- Employer’s certificate
- Passport
- LIC policy
- Rent receipt
- Papers of flat allotment
- Papers of house registration
- Possession letter
- Voter card
- PAN card
- Telephone bill
Some states in India have a strict rule wherein a person needs to represent this gas ration card if he or she applies for a new LPG connection. This is especially applicable for people belonging to the states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. So, for the residents of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu it is mandatory to get a new Ration Card before applying for the new gas connection.
